BIOGRAPHY |
This story has different twist, Linda Anderson was not your usual 17 year old bug girl. She didn't even get into horse racing until she was 26, starting as an exercise rider at Suffolk Downs. Linda, did have some experience riding quarter horses in her home state of Michigan. After five years as an exercise rider, Anderson decided it was time to be a jockey.
Her first race was on May 16, 1983, an eleventh place finish aboard Can't Stop Dancing. On September 9th of that year she had her first win, aboard Triple Scorpio, it did take four months on the calendar, but it was only her sixth mount. Another anomaly, was the fact that she rode her entire career at Suffolk Downs or Rockingham Park. Her career spanned twelve years, she was multiple stakes placed, with her best effort, a second place finish in the $20,000, Macomber Handicap at Suffolk in 1985. Her final race on September 15, 1995, wasn't much of a race, her mount June Blizzard, refused to leave the gate.
