Pari-Mutual wagering was not legalized in North Dakota until 1987. Live racing begin in 1989 and allegedly one of the two tracks that operate in the state, Chippewa Downs has been around since then, located in Belcourt. The other is North Dakota Horse Park located near Fargo, which opened in 2003.
Although North Dakota Horse Park seems to be the
most recognizable, Chippewa Downs seems to be the most solvent of the
two, as the Fargo track which is non-profit has had to suspend racing
for a period of time. Non the less I wouldn't be looking for either of
these tracks to show up on any OTB, or on line gambling sites.
