Topsham Fair !
Topsham Fair LogoRacing in Topsham takes place at the Topsham Fair and is the second stop on the Maine Fair schedule. Topsham is located about thirty minutes north of Portland, near Brunswick. Racing is done on a standard half mile oval, the grandstand is a good sized open air structure. The highlight of the meet are the Maine Sire Stakes races.
Like all the other Maine Fairs, Topsham has been around for over 150 years. It's not clear when harness racing started, but it probably didn't resemble todays events.
Topsham is the second stop on the fair circuit after the long trip up and back from Presque Isle. In 2012 Gary Mosher, and Christopher Nye ended in a tie for wins by a driver.
2016 was also the year I made it to the Topsham Fair, no racing but I got a chance to see the place. The track here is tucked away in the woods away from most of the fair buildings, the grandstand is a pretty good size for a Maine Fair Track, as you would expect there wasn't much going on.
