Racing in Blue Grass Country !
Right up there with
Saratoga and Del Mar Keeneland seems to be one of those happening tracks
especially in the spring when the ladies can test drive their derby
outfits. Keeneland has a purse value of 52, the meets may be short but
there talented.
If your looking for tradition Keeneland is the place to be you could call it the Wrigley Field of horse racing. Listed as a National Historic Landmark Keeneland did not even have a track announcer until 1997. While major improvements have been done to the facility you could still recognize it as the same track that existed in 1936.
In 2011 Keenland celebrated it's seventy fifth anniversary running it's usual spring and fall meets. Julien Leparoux was the leading rider for each meet.
The 2012 season ended on an optimistic note as both attendance, and handle increased. Once again jockey Julien Leparoux won the riding title for both the spring and fall meet.
