All Over The Place !
Not a lot of
information out there on Bluegrass Downs, but it's highly unlikely
anyone is going to confuse it with Churchill Downs.
Tucked away in Paducah on the west end of the state, Bluegrass Downs has been a minor track in Kentucky since 1984. The unique thing about the Paducah Oval is unlike most tracks it's never changed it's name just it's product.
What started out as a quarter horse track (the reason for the long chute) in 1984, converted to thoroughbreds in 1993, and finally to harness racing in 1998.
In 2012 harness racing is still being conducted, but for only three weekends a year. Probably just enough to keep it open for simulcasting.
As of 2014 the harness horses still go around the track during a short summer meet.
