  Horse Racing and Indian Relays!

Ladies Day Eastern Idaho State Fair is located in Blackfoot, Idaho and hosts four days of pari-mutual racing spread over two weekends. The racing consists mainly of quarter horses and also features Indian relay races a fair favorite for years.

The fair itself was  established around 1902. During World War II Italian prisoners of war were housed there to help with local crops. Wagering on horse racing started in 1946 probably wasn't the pari-mutual variety and in 1948 was outlawed. Pari-Mutual racing was finally approved in 1964 by the state of Idaho and the Eastern Idaho state fair was one of the first to hold a race meet.

in 2011 the fair conducted four days of racing featuring the Eastern Idaho Distaff Challenge. Robert Webb came away with the riding title. Racing is scheduled for 2012.

In 2014 Blackfoot is again hosting four days of racing, starting August 31st, September 1st, 5th, and 6th.
