backdrop and quality of racing Santa Anita is definitely the top track
in the country which runs an extended meet. Large crowds are on hand
daily not just for special events. If your interested in the way racing
was when it was the only game in town this is the place to be.

Originally built in 1907 that facility lasted but a few years in the
mid thirties when gambling was again legal in California the current
plant was built. With features like its downhill six and one half
furlong turf chute to its million dollar stakes program Santa Anita
should have no problem maintaining its purse value index of 52 one of
the top rankings in the country.
In 2011 Santa Anita opened up in January with it's original dirt racing surface. The Oak Tree meet returned after a year at Hollywood Park while Santa Anita was being re-surfaced. Joel Rosario won the riding title and Game on Dude upset in the "Big Cap".
